MONDO DRUMMERS is a program that began in 1994 through the Eastside Neighborhood Arts Center as an outreach program for at-risk youth. While percussion and hand instruments are the focus of the program, MONDO goes a few steps further by teaching the history and culture of musical styles from around the world. Once the culture, history and unique instruments are introduced, the students learn the rhythms and then produce the sounds that create the music. In 1999, MONDO became its own 501(c)3 non-profit corporation reaching 10,500 children in area metroplex schools and libraries. MONDO DRUMMERS Performance Ensemble was the first youth hand drum and percussion ensemble in Texas and recorded their first CD, it was a BIG SKY, after all, in 1999. Eddie Dunlap, Artistic Director of MONDO DRUMMERS
& Co-Founder of Arts Fifth Avenue, is a native of Fort Worth & began playing drums professionally at age of 10. Eddie has over 30 years experience in drum set, hand drums & percussion. He's performed with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mose Alison, Master Cylinder, French tap dancer, Sarah Petronio, & West African dancer, Titus Fotso. He has hosted workshops through
the Van Cliburn Foundation with the Brazilian percussion group, Uakti, & internationally renowned percussionist, Evelyn Glennie. You may also have heard him over the past twenty years working
on musicals with local theaters such as Jubilee Theater, Circle Theater & Hip Pocket Theatre.

PRIVATE DRUM SET/PERCUSSION LESSONS by arrangement for day & time: $40 per hour, $25 per 1/2 hour. To reserve lesson day & time, private instruction must be paid for monthly in advance. Students are requested to give 24 hour notice if unable to make their lesson, or to re-schedule.
